Saving lives: the program making breast screens more inclusive of trans and gender diverse people

On the 29th December, BreastScreen Victoria hosted a Trans and Gender Diverse (TGD) event at The Rose Clinic in Melbourne CBD. It was a great evening, with staff from St Vincent’s BreastScreen providing a warm welcome to the Rose Clinic, and information about what to expect at a breast screen visit. Results from a TGD survey were also shared with everyone.

The event included a discussion about barriers to screening for TGD people, and strategies for providing more TGD-inclusive services.

The forum and survey findings will be used in the LGBTI inclusive services online training module we are developing for frontline staff, a new TGD policy, and our work on the Rainbow Tick project, which will be piloted at the Rose Clinic and St Vincent’s assessment service in 2018.
