Make your #breastassured promise this Mother’s Day

This Mother’s Day, BreastScreen Victoria is calling on daughters to encourage their mothers to make an appointment to get a regular breast screen and to go with them when the time comes.

Family members can play an important role in encouraging positive health behaviours in those closest to them. Various studies have shown that social and emotional support results in better health outcomes and this is something that BreastScreen Victoria is hoping women will remember ahead of May 14.

A special image has been created for women to share on Facebook, illustrating their pledge to take their mother to her appointment with BreastScreen Victoria. Just right click on the image below and save it to your files.

“The health of our loved ones is so important,” said BreastScreen Victoria CEO, Vicki Pridmore. “What better way to show your mother that you care than by taking a positive step to encourage her to look after her own health.

“Knowing that you will be there to provide support when she attends one of our clinics will be reassuring. Our mums have been going out of their way to help us for a long time; this is a meaningful way of giving back.

“You can share the image on your Facebook wall and let your mum and all of your friends know that you will be there for them when they get their regular breast screen – it might even encourage others to do the same,” Ms Pridmore concluded.

Appointments at BreastScreen Victoria clinics take just 10 minutes, are with a woman and are free. They can be booked online at breastscreen.org.au or by calling 13 20 50.
