LVHN employee rolled up his sleeve to test Pfizer’s coronavirus vaccineopens in new window
As a respiratory therapist with Lehigh Valley Health Network, Kenneth Miller has witnessed from the frontlines the physiological and psychological damage caused by COVID-19. “I’ve seen a lot of people, unfortunately, pass away. And I’ve seen a lot of people that have survived struggle to breathe for quite a while until they finally get back to a healthy state. It’s been a varied, horrific, horrible situation to witness,” Miller said.

A woman is given a Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine on Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2020, at Cardiff and Vale Therapy Centre in Cardiff, Wales. Wales joined the other United Kingdom nations in rolling out the vaccine on Tuesday, a rare moment of coordination after months of disjointedness in the four nations' pandemic response. Wales introduced a 17-day "firebreak" lockdown in October and November to suppress the surge in covid-19 cases, but infections have continued to rise.

COVID-19 is very real. Take it from a doctoropens in new window
Emotionally, it was very difficult for our team members as they also faced the risks of exposure and were worried about spreading the virus to their families at home. I, especially, give so much credit to the nurses. They were there every day with the patients, spending hours in the room, in full personal protective equipment.
